About Prosecco
Prosecco is the light sparkling wine produced in Italy's Veneto region (about 30 miles from Venice). It is made from Prosecco grapes, which are hand-harvested and gently pressed in special stainless steel tanks so that only the free-run juice from the heart of the grape is extracted. Vinification occurs over just 15 to 20 days in stainless steel vats where the juice is kept at a constant cold temperature. Sparkling Prosecco is produced using the Charmat method, which preserves the fruit and freshness of the wine. It contains no added CO2. From this process several types of Prosecco are created. Prosecco is recognizable by its light straw color and delicate fruity aroma and flavor.
A product growing in popularity, Prosecco has for many years enjoyed great popularity as an aperitif in its home country Italy. Its appeal as a quality sparkling wine has now spread to most parts of the world, with explosive growth in upscale and mainstream establishments (restaurants, bars, pubs) and at events. Prosecco draws interest from traditional wine, beer and champagne consumers alike, thanks to its refined taste and delicate bubble. Indeed, Prosecco is a Vino Frizzante (lightly sparkling wine) thus making it easier to drink than a Spumante (strongly sparkling wine) such as Champagne or Cava.
Unique: Vino Frizzante on tap
Whereas traditionally, Prosecco has been sold in 75 cl bottles, the product is now imported directly from Italy in 25 litre kegs, thus making the product available on tap, by the glass, offering a unique experience and significant advantages for use in an event situation. There are 2 varieties to choose from:
- Prosecco Marca Trevigiana 10.5% – a Prosecco for connaisseurs. An excellent choice for all occasions and location.
- Vino Frizzante Rosato 10.5% – Pinot Nero and Raboso. A pink variety with red fruit, a great welcome drink for special occasions
Benefits
- Costs less! When comparing the product to its equivalent in a bottle, savings run up to 30% due to the economies in packaging and transportation. The bottles themselves, labelling, packaging and the cork and thread associated with Prosecco all increase the cost of production. Transporting the keg is cheaper compared to bottles and import duty on Prosecco in a keg is less than in a bottle.
Furthermore, when compared to Champagne there are considerable savings to be made.

- More efficient: Easier service Prosecco on tap speeds up the service. No time is lost by opening the bottle and the corking after service. Imagine the time gained when preparing a tray of glasses for a welcome reception.
- Less wastage: stop throwing away half full bottles which have lost their bubbles at the end of the night. An opened keg remains fresh for at 3 weeks. Any partially used kegs can be kept for another occasion.
Less garbage and more efficient use of cooling space: no more costs for the removal of empty bottles, a more efficient use of space.
- Help the environment: The production and recycling of glass for bottles uses a great deal of energy, thus damaging the environment. The transportation of kegs is 50% more efficient than that of bottles: less transportation, less fuel, less CO2 emission.
Logistics
